about us

Most bookstores offer “staff picks” in their inventory. Every book we offer is a staff pack, hand selected by us.

We’re open to everything, although you won’t necessarily see our titles organized into conventional subject sections or artificial designations such as “women’s voices.” Instead, we see books for adults in two main categories. “Arts” encompasses painting, architecture, sculpture, literature, music, performance, TV and film. "Ideas" encompasses books by and about creators and thinkers, including works of biography, memoir, and criticism. Titles geared toward kids and young adults include picture, chapter, and graphic books.

We decide what we carry, you decide what to buy. For more information, please see our terms of service.

Not at the moment, but feel free to get in touch with your resume if you think you might be a good fit for our future expansion.

Absolutely but right now, her focus is on Vanishing Ink, a story we’re writing collectively.

Inventory

We make it easy to get titles from us by requesting them through this form, or by ordering from our partner, Bookshop.org.

Please email us with your name, book title, ISBN-13, publisher name, publication date, list price/discount, distributor contact information, and whether or not the title is returnable. Please note that we can only consider titles with an ISBN-13. We review submissions regularly, but due to high volume, we cannot reply individually to every request. If we feel your book is a good fit for the store, we will reply to you within two months. If you have not heard from us after two months then we are unable to bring in your work. Thank you for thinking of us!

Not at the moment.

Yes, we partner with Bookshop.org for books in print and Libro.fm for audio books, which means we receive a commission when you place an order from our landing page.

Not in our core stock, but if there’s a specific title you’re looking for, please reach out and we’ll try to get it for you.

We plan to hold events as soon as we open our physical home.

shipping & returns

Rates are shown at checkout.

Yes, contact us for rates.

It depends on location and shipping method. See options at checkout. Most U.S. orders are processed within 1-3 business days.

Pre-orders are typically shipped on the release date- which are subject to change by the publisher. If you have any questions about a pre-order status, please get in touch with us.

Sorry, not until our physical store is open.

We want you to be happy with your purchase. Therefore, with proof of purchase from us,  you may return new books 14 days from the date of delivery, as noted by the carrier, for a refund or exchange minus shipping costs. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused, unread, and in the same condition that you received it. Non-book items must also be in the original packaging. Please note that books are marked as “pre-loved,” items purchased at a discount and/or those marked final sale are not eligible for return.

When you send items back to us for return, use a trackable shipping service or purchase shipping insurance. Otherwise we cannot guarantee that we will receive your returned item, and can’t accept responsibility for lost packages. If your returned item(s) isn’t in its original condition, its damaged, or its missing parts for reasons not due to our error, it is not eligible for return or exchange. Once we’ve had a chance to receive and inspect your return, we’ll confirm its eligibility for a refund or exchange via the email address you provide. A credit will be applied to your credit card or original method of payment within 3-7 business days.
